jaunt through South Korea

7月 2nd, 2010 by kgo

I went to South Korea with my mother and aunt from June 17th to 19th.

You know South Korea is one of the toughest school-record societies, don’t you?

They start English programs in the primary school, however, Korean education-obsessed parents make (or let) their children learn English in preschool. And some of them send their children overseas before exam war beginning. Some aspects of South Korea seem to be similar to Japan, but they seem to be more aggressive, outrageous, and aberrant.  I fully know the stark realities of South Korean spur the people to the race, though.

By the way, I can use Korean more practically than English. If you are interested in Korea and Korean, please feel free to contact me. I’ll be very glad to talk anything about them with anyone anytime. ; )

His Lecture

I attended a lecture on June 2nd to take some pictures.

The theme of the lecture was “Multicultural Education in American Teacher Preparation Programs.”

I was born in Japan, but my nationality is South Korea and I went to Japanese school for 16 years. During my school days, I sometimes felt isolation, alienation, a sense of inferiority, something. When I was in elementary school, my classroom teacher visited my home and referred to Korean dolls at the entrance. He said, “How beautiful! I have never seen such wonderful dolls! How impressive!”

I was not a good and honest child, so I couldn’t express my feelings openly, but I still remember my mother’s extremely happy and proud smile.

I suppose that it is not difficult and complicated to respect diversity and cultural identity.

“Varietas delectat.”

“Variety is the spice of life.”

“多様性は楽しみの母“

Yo! Yes?

I am poor at speaking in English. If someone mentions my writing, listening, and reading ability of English, I will have to rewrite like this. I am poor especially at speaking in English. Speaking English always makes me feel miserable.

Almost during the last three days I had been stuck at CReDEEP LAB in order to install soft wares. I picked up a picture book from the new magazine rack.

This book encouraged me and made me feel happy to some extent. Two little boys met for the first time and started talking with quite short and easy words and they bonded with each other.

I am learning English to broaden my little world. This picture book gave me a clue as to what is important to establish beautiful relationships with others.

Hello world!

Hello,

I’m a clerical assistant of CReDEEP and very glad to join this eportfolio. I am also learning English as you are. I try writing  my post here in English. Please excuse my improper words, grammatical errors or something, and I’d really appreciate it if you would let me know about  my mistakes.

How were your holidays? During 5 days, I stayed at home and watched some films. I’d like to highly recommend “Up” to you.
